Back in 1983, led by Father Timothy Murphy, Saint Andrew Catholic Church purchased a Rodgers 900B hybrid organ with pipework which was also made by Rodgers.
In 2007 after 25-years of service, the old analog console was upgraded to a 4-manual Rodgers Masterpiece Series 1038 by Tom James (Organist and Music Director) and Father Mark Heuberger. The audio system was also replaced to take advantage of the newer technology and an increased number of channels. The Rodgers pipes were preserved and incorporated into the new system.
The 1038 sounded great until last Fall when a dramatic lightning strike destroyed church video cameras, PA equipment, and sadly damaged the organ to a degree where replacement made more sense than repair. Our team, including Service Mgr. Mike Ray and President Tim Newby, consulted with insurance company adjusters and inspectors throughout the process, and the result is truly one of the finest Rodgers organ installations in our firm’s long history.
The new Rodgers Infinity Series 489 has a whopping 40 stereo channels and continues to use the Rodgers pipes that were a part of the original 900B from 1983. Special thanks to Father Eduardo Coll, and once again to Mr. Tom James for their leadership, and for their faith in Rodgers and Central Music. The dedication concert to celebrate the new organ is scheduled for December 6th of this year with a very special artist, Maestro Hector Olivera! Don’t miss this momentous occasion.
